The Lawrence Arts Center is pleased to announce auditions for the October Halloween musical thriller production of Sweeney Todd; The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire on April 20, 2013.

This professional production directed by Ric Averill will feature a new incarnation of the Free State Liberation Orchestra under the musical direction of Patty Ahern.

This is a four week commitment beginning October 7 with most rehearsals being mid to late afternoon through evening. Performance dates are October 25, 26 and 27, a special Halloween performance on October 31 at 9 pm, and November 1 & 2, and 3.


We are seeking additional male and female chorus members and understudies.

All auditionees should bring 16 bars of any song from a Sondheim Musical (please bring music). Accompanist will be provided. Songs from Sweeney Todd ARE acceptable and encouraged. Please be prepared to sing all of the selection and to sight read.

Auditionees should also prepare an under one minute dramatic monologue, 20th & 21st Century material preferred.

Equity Actors should call the Arts Center to set up a time slot between 10 am and 1 pm. Callbacks will be scheduled with individual actors. Some callbacks will be held at 2 pm on the day of auditions.

Auditionees must be at least 16 years of age. 16 to 18-year-olds may be cast as non-paid Apprentices and/or Understudies.

Pay scale ranges from honorarium to Equity Guest Artist pay.

Auditionees will be scheduled in groups of 10 for each hour-long slot.  Available audition slots are 10 am, 11 am, and 12 pm.  Callbacks and movement auditions will be held at 2 pm
